BANDIPORA : Locals from Nowgam Sumbal Friday staged a protest demanding action against Naib Tehsildar Sumbal for allegedly thrashing a youth inside his office.
Scores of people along with the victim Mushtaq Ahmed assembled in the office premises of SDM Sumbal here in North Kashmir’s Bandipora District and demanded action against Naib Tehsildar Sumbal.
The protesters alleged that despite assurances from police and district administration, no action has been so far initiated against Naib Tehsildar Sumbal.
One Mushtaq Ahmed according to protesters had gone to Naib Tehsildar office Sumbal to get his state subject certificate. “The clerk of the office demanded bribe from him and when the victim brought the issue into the notice of Naib Tehsildar, he instead of taking his clerk to task, thrashed complainant. Blood oozed out from the mouth of the victim after the NT kicked and dragged him,” they said adding a complaint was lodged at Police Station Sumbal while District Administration Bandipora was also apprised about the situation.
“Deputy Commissioner Bandipora had assured action against the NT, however, till date nothing has been done in this regard,” said the protesters who raised slogans against Naib Tehsildar.
Refuting the allegations, Naib Tehsildar Sumbal, Nazir Ahmed Wani told CNS the said person created a scene in the office and even beaten up the Assistant of Election Section. (CNS)
