SRINAGAR: Scores of attendants at Lalla Ded hospital in Srinagar on Thursday staged a protest against the alleged mismanagement by the authorities at the maternity facility.
Scores of the attendants assembled outside the main gate raising slogans against the administration hampered the traffic movement for hours.
The protestors alleged that the hospital authorities inside maternity ward are asking for bribe even for a childbirth.
Meanwhile protester told news agency Press Trust of Kashmir that it is a state-run hospital poor and patients from far-flung areas often come here, “suppose if a patient doesn’t have money for the bribe does that mean he won’t be allowed to get inside the hospital, he said.
The patients also alleged that this is not the first time; patients have often complained about such things and even took up the matter with authorities, these things are very normal now.
However, a police official said that it’s actually a case of “manhandling”, but they are investigating the matter what exactly has happened there.
The attendants, later on, marched towards the office of the medical superintendent. (PTK)
