Says fewer power cuts expected this winter
Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir V.K. Bidhuri on Sunday said the administration has improved power supply for this winter while extensive preparations in anticipation of La Niña conditions are in place.
Speaking with reporters in Srinagar, Div Com Kashmir V.K. Bidhuri said they already had an idea that La Niña was coming and that preparations have been better since last year.
“We already had an idea that La Niña was coming, and our preparations have been good since last year,” said the Div Com.
He said the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) is actively working on a curtailment schedule to ensure minimal disruptions.
“I am fully hopeful that power cuts will be fewer than the previous year,” he said.
“A harsh winter is expected this year, and we are requesting consumers to cooperate with us, especially during transformer breakdowns, and crude instruments shouldn’t be used,” the Div Com further said. Notably, as already reported Kashmir is expected to experience harsh conditions this winter, including heavy precipitation and prolonged cold spells, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which has forecast a La Niña event—(KNO)
