Police solved theft case, recovers ornament worth lakhs in Baramulla

SRINAGAR : The police on Tuesday claimed that they solved a theft case and recovered ornaments worth lakhs in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A police statement said that on June 5, Police Station Uri received written complaint from one Vinod Kumar S/O Chaman Lal R/O Lagama Uri, a teacher by profession, that some unknown persons barged into his house and stole golden ornaments.

Accordingly case FIR No. 28/ 2017 u/s 454, 380 RPC was registered in Police Station Uri and investigation was set in motion, police said.

During investigation Police Station Uri rounded up number of suspected persons of the area for questioning and after strenuous efforts, Police Station Uri got some clue about involvement of one Ajeet Kumar S/O Somnath R/O Lagama Uri in the theft._

“The subject was arrested and during questioning, the accused confessed about his involvement and on his disclosure recovery of golden ornaments (in full) worth Rs five lakhs was made from his home and other people who had received the stolen property,” police statement said.
