Budgam : Police have taken cognizance and registered a formal case after security personnel found some bullets and empty cases from a bag during X-ray scanning at Srinagar International Airport.
Official sources told news agency KNT that on Monday at OC Drop Gate of Srinagar International Airport security personnel scanned a courier bag and a suit case and found 4 rounds of AK-47 rifle and one round of INSAS rifle. These rounds were found in the courier bag while 21 empty cases were recovered from the suit case.
“The bag and the suitcase were sent by a courier company for a soldier presently attached with Army’s 01 Rashtriya Rifles Unit at High Ground Anantnag in South Kashmir,” sources said.
Sources identified the soldier who was supposed to get this courier as Sepoy Amar Appa Rao of Maharashtra.
A top police official while confirming the incident said that a formal case has been registered at police station Humhama and investigation set into motion. (KNT)
