Police register case after miscreants cut down scores of apple trees in South Kashmir

Anantnag : Miscreants have damaged an orchard, cutting down apple trees and branches in Mattan area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Police sources told news agency KNT that a man identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Padder son of Ghulam Mohiuddin of Khaniwari Mattan submitted an application at Police Station Mattan in which he claimed that unknown persons have cut down his apple trees and branches and damaged at least 30 to 40 trees.

The man’s orchard is located at Ramhall Akura.

When contacted a top police official said that a case has been registered in this regard and a team has been constituted to investigate the matter. “An FIR vide number 70/2020 under section 447, 436A has been registered and culprits will be identified and booked,” he said.

Such incidents are not uncommon in South Kashmir. Earlier, miscreants chopped down scores of apple trees and branches in Mehand village of Sri Gufwara, prompting police to register a case. (KNT)
