Jammu : The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have foiled an extortion attempt in Arnas area of Reasi district of Jammu division by arresting five accused persons.
In a statement issued to the new agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), an official spokesperson said that police station Arnas received information that around 8 to 9 local goons of Arnas on the intervening night of 29 and 30 September entered the premises of CapCon construction company office with an air pistol and 2 “Tokas”.
“They put this pistol on the forehead of general manager CapCon construction company, Amarjeet Singh and demanded Rs 1.5 lakh from him. Somehow, GM succeeded to persuade them that right now I do not have cash with me and will arrange in the morning. Later he informed police station Arnas about the incident,” he said.
He said that the police acted swiftly and using technical intelligence police party led by station house officer Arnas, Rajesh Gautam arrested five accused persons and recovered one air pistol and 2 Tokas from their possession.
He identified the accused as Riyaz Ahmed alias Kaka son of Abdul Rashid, a resident of Taddu, Aryan Sharma alias Kaka son of Ravinder Kumar, a resident of Arnas, Sonu son of Kartar Chand, Kuldeep Kumar son of Kartar Chand and Sanjay Kumar son of Lal Singh- all three residents of Narloo.
He also said that Dinesh Kumar alias Dhanu son of Ashok Kumar, a resident of Chinkah, who is the mastermind behind this extortion attempt, Vijay son of Lal Chand, Ajay son of Subash and Raju son of Lal Singh are absconding.
“Accordingly police station Arnas registered an FIR No 85/20 U/S 385,458,147,148 IPC, 4/25 Arms Act and investigation is set into motion,” he said.
The spokesperson added that the whole operation was led by SHO police station Arnas, Rajesh Gautam under the supervision of SDPO Arnas Dr Satish Bhardwaj and overall supervision of ASP Reasi Sh. Surjeet Bhagat and SSP Reasi Smt Rashmi Wazir JKPS—(KNO)
