Police Crack Theft Case in Uri, Recover Stolen Cash

Baramulla: At approximately 1705 hours, Hasan Din, son of Ghulam Qadir, a resident of Gawalta, filed a complaint at Police Station Uri, reporting the theft of ₹1 lac from his pocket while waiting in line at SDH Uri for an OPD ticket.

Acting swiftly, the police registered FIR No. 56/2024 under Section 303/BNS and initiated an investigation. After reviewing CCTV footage, authorities identified a suspect, Syed Bidar Ali, son of Syed Nazar Shah, a resident of Kund Berjala Kamalkote.

During questioning at the police station, the suspect confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of ₹42,000 from his residence.

The prompt action by the Police Station Uri has ensured the recovery of a significant portion of the stolen amount, and the investigation is ongoing to recover the remaining amount.

This success demonstrates the commitment of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to addressing criminal activities and ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
