Kulgam: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Kulgam have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
A Police party headed by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar during patrolling at Wanpoh near J&K bank intercepted a suspicious person, carrying a nylon bag, who tried to flee from the spot after noticing police party, but was apprehended tactfully. He has been identified as Firoz Ahmad son of Mohd Shahjahan resident of Madanpur Khadar Delhi A/P Harnag Anantnag. During search, grinded Cannabis powder like contraband substance weighing 1.2 Kgs was recovered from his possession. He was arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 165/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.“`
