‘Ensure no one sleeps empty stomach in north Kashmir’

Kupwara: Unlike other restrictions in Kashmir valley, the Jammu and Kashmir police in the times of global medical crisis has ensured that no one sleeps hungry pushing in it’s own men and resources and has managed to feed hundreds of deprived and deserving families across the northern belt of Kashmir valley.
The officials in Jammu and Kashmir police told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), police is committed to ensure that everyone has adequate availability of essential commodities and money to meet the daily needs amid these crisis.
They said that at the same time police is also ensuring that strict lockdown is enforced to avoid any large gathering and movement of people to fight the deadly virus.
In a series of Tweets police informed that its men in Baramulla district of north Kashmir have delivered around 1700 Kgs of rice, 385 Kgs of flour, 165 ltrs Mustard Oil, 500 Kgs of vegetables, 85 Kgs of Spices, 350 Masks and medicines & also provided cash of rupees 12000 to the needy local people besides provided shelter to the non-locals stuck in these areas.
Sopore police provided 13000 Kgs of rice & 4500 Kgs of flour. It also distributed 900 masks and 350 bottles of sanitizers to the local people and also provided 3000 Kgs of rice and 2400 Kgs of flour to non-local residents besides provided shelter to them at different places.
Bandipora police distributed around 3000 Kgs of rice, pulses, flour, sugar etc. among locals besides 50 Kgs of Mustard Oil, 100 packets each of turmeric and chilli powder, 50 Kgs of salt, namkeen tea 15 Kgs & tea 60 packets, 200 packets of biscuits, bathing soap cakes were also distributed.
It also assisted local people with cash, transport to the pregnant ladies and other patients besides home delivery of medicines to the needy persons.
Bandipora Police also provided 1000 Kgs of rice and 100 Kgs of atta and pulses to the non-local residents of the area. “Nearly 60 migrant labourers have been accommodated in govt buildings with all facilities and cash has also been distributed among the needy.”
In Handwara district police provided 1700 Kgs of rice, 170 Kgs of pulses and flour, 113 Kgs of spices, 110 Kgs of sugar, 40 Kg salt and 200 liters of Mustard oil to the local people of the district besides 500 Kgs of rice, 134 Kgs of pulses and flour, 121 Kgs of sugar,15 Kg of salt, 21 Kgs of spices, 10 Kg of tea and 60 liters of mustard oil have been provided to the non-local residents of the area.
Handwara Police also assisted in distributing cooking gas and ration through CAPD village wise and also provided accommodation to 434 migrant labourers. They also distributed hundreds of masks and sanitizers among the local and non-local people in their area.
Kupwara Police distributed 2900 Kgs of rice,1227 Kgs of flour & pulses,369 liters of mustard oil,300 kgs of spices,372 kgs of salt and 25 kgs of sugar, namkeen tea 121 kgs, 76 kgs tea packets, 50 kgs of milk, 600 packets of biscuits among the local people and also distributed 150 masks and 665 number of soaps.
It also distributed ration to the non-local residents which include 2750 kgs rice and 95 Kgsflour, tea 45 kg, Mustard oil 85 kg,135 kg pulses, 40 kg spices, 30 kg sugar, 70 kg salt besides 40 kgs of onions and potatoes.
Besides the supply chain of essential commodities, police also informed that in entire north Kashmir Range during the lockdown period 226 FIRs have been lodged and 249 shops/vehicles have been seized for violating restriction orders.
Meanwhile, the people from different walks of life have appreciated the role of Jammu and Kashmir police during the crisis situation by reaching out to the families with no source of income—(KNO)
