Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers in north Kashmir and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party of PP Delina at a checkpoint established at Kanispora intercepted a motorcyclist identified as Inayat Qayoom Baidar resident of Khawajabagh Baramulla (photojournalist) who tried to evade from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During the search, 12 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and motorcycle bearing registration number JK05J-2513 was also seized,
Similarly, a police party of PS Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Khanpora Bridge Baramulla, arrested two drug peddlers identified as Afaq Hassan Lone son of Ghulam Hassan Lone resident of Qazi Hamam Baramulla & Showkat Ahmad Gani son of Ghulam Mohd Gani resident of Khawaja Sahib Baramulla, police said.
During the search, 160 grams of Charas was recovered from their possession. They have been shifted to a police station where they remain in custody, police said.
Meanwhile, a police party of PP Langate at a checkpoint established at Bunpora Langate on Baramulla-Handwara Highway, apprehended a person who tried to avoid the police party in a suspicious manner, police said.
During the search, 80 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Mir son of Mohammad Subhan resident of Bunpora Langate. He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody, police said.
Accordingly, police said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
