KUPWARA: Decades after its establishment, the Primary Health Centre at tehsil Drugmulla in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district has been longing for Dental Surgeon, Digital X Ray, fencing, Transformer and Ambulance.

“More than 500 patients are being treated in the said Centre on monthly basis, but unfortunately this Health Centre has no ambulance for patients. The non-availability of ambulances has hit the healthcare system badly compelling patients to reach hospitals in private transport during emergency situations and the said centre is without fencing.”

“Patients have to get their normal or Digital x ray tests done in private, as the hospital doesn’t have a transformer or a Digital X-ray Machine. For a simple Digital X ray people forced to done in private clinics,” locals said.

“Not only patients but doctors in the hospital too face enormous problems.” “Director Health had given assurance that an ambulance will be provided to the hospital but that assurance proved a phony promise. Leave aside ambulance, there is no generator and digital X-Ray machine as a result patients badly suffer,” said a medico to PTK wishing anonymity.

“The medical superintendent as well patients appealed Director Health to take note of the problems faced by them in the hospital. The Medical Superintendent added that we have organized medical camps also here in PHC Drugmulla from last two year a team of specialists provided medical support and care to the local populace.

Free surgeries medical prescriptions and medicines were provided to at least 350 patients from last two years persons from the adjoining villages of chak Drugmulla, Muqaam Shawali and other areas,” he said.
