Urges students to come out to participate in initiatives like Super-30, Super-50

Srinagar: Describing people of Kashmir as army’s life, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Srinagar-based 15 Corps Lt Gen Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon on Wednesday asked students of Kashmir to participate in initiatives like Super-30.

“More and more students should participate in these initiatives to take their life to other level. As you know, in last five years, 72 students from Super-30 and Super-50 have got admission in IIT and NIIT and other 83 students have got admission in different engineer colleges all over India and in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said while addressing inaugural function regarding another Super-30 batch.

He said a Kashmiri by himself or herself is a full package of knowledge and “this knowledge is to be taken forward.”

“Indian army runs about 28 army goodwill schools and 10000 students are getting education in these schools. All faculty members come from Kashmir. There are ladies and gents teachers and all students, who mostly come from poor families in far-flung areas where facilities are not ordinarily available and all these initiatives including super-30, super-50, schools etc is a small attempt on army’s part to give back to the society. Saying goes in English, ‘Pay back Time’, and we have to give it back to the society where we are living,” he said, according to GNS.

“All these initiatives are for the people of Kashmir and we request everyone to take full advantage of this. This is not Super-30 and taking in view the successful results, I think this is ‘superb-30’ and we have to take it to the place where everybody says that if I have to be successful I have to be part of super-30 or Super-50 and thereafter my life is a success,” he added.

Appreciating the efforts of the students the Chinar Corps Commander said: “I wish to compliment the parents for their constant support and motivation, the teachers for their motivation and hard work and most importantly the students for their hard work.”

He also wished the fresh batch of students all the success and prayed that their hard work would bear similar results next year with top marks.

He also thanked HPCL and NEIDO for their contribution in transforming the future of 30 families and positively influencing the lives of more than 20 times the number of people. Encouraging students of both the batches he said that “The students of the new batch should concentrate only on their studies and the successful ones should work hard to top their respective colleges.”

He said the initiative is a huge success and has the potential to transform the lives of the students and their families.

“This project will also create a positive environment in the valley by strengthening the relationship of people with Chinar Corps.”

After the successful experience of Engineering Super 30 (now Super 50), Army has decided to facilitate similar coaching and mentoring for NEET examination through Kashmir Super 30 (Medical).

The initiative, according to army spokesman, in its first year broke all records with a stupendous result. All the students cracked one of the toughest examinations in the country. The Kashmir Super 30 initiative with the support of Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (HPCL) and National Integrity & Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO) has empowered its 30 students to achieve this fabulous result, which will enable securing admissions into the premier institutions to pursue MBBS, BDS and associated courses, he said.

“The project is being conducted under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts of HPCL. NEIDO is the training partner. The Indian Army providing the infrastructure, lodging, boarding facility and conducive study environment for the students.”

The students of the pioneer batch were selected after an exhaustive entrance and aptitude test, he said. “The selection was focused on talented students from underprivileged strata of society and then mentored for NEET exams.” (GNS)
