Bhaderwah : Fed up with the repeated assurances, the residents and school students of Alaka Athkhar staged protest against Public Works Department (PWD) and blocked the vehicular movement for couple of hours at Sartingal Chowk about 5km from Bhadarwah town in mountainous Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
The protesters led by all Sarpanchs of Athkhar area assembled at Sartingal Chowk and held protest.The protestors stated that it is very unfortunate on part of the PWD authorities that they are forcing the people to come on roads to get the construction of roads done. “It seems that PWD officers are spoiling the image of the Central Government headed by Narendra Modi, who is keen of provide road connectivity to each and every village across India”, they added.
“Social activist Showkat Peer said that: “we are facing lot of inconvenience in commuting to and fro with the damaged roads. The roads are also not worth for school going children and old people to commute”.
Tehsildar Bhadarwah Tahir Nadeem and police contingent led by SDPO Iftiqar Qureshi rushed to the spot to pacify the protestors. They assured that their grievance will be redressed.CNS
