Veeri addresses party’s former ministers, legislators, asks them speed up activities on ground
Srinagar: In a bid to assess party’s performance and take stock of its activities, a high-level meeting of Peoples Democratic Party’s senior leadership of south Kashmir was held on Thursday and was attended by former ministers, legislators, and senior leaders.
The meeting held at Dak Bungalow Anantnag was chaired by PDP Vice President Abdul Rahman Veeri who in his address asked the leaders to focus on their respective constituencies and remain connected with people, party activists, and workers on the ground.
The PDP vice President maintained further that the PDP founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed laid the foundation of the PDP by investing all the six decades of his political experience and was successful in making PDP a guiding force in Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape.
He added that when the PDP formed the government in the state post-2002 elections for the first time, there was a major change witnessed in both the political as well as in the administrative set up of the state. “The PDP is the only party which has been keeping all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir intact and united while prioritizing for the equitable growth and fulfillment of the regional aspirations all across,” Veeri said in his address.
He added that the PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has been treading the same path which was shown to the people by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and the party will scan new horizons under her able leadership
Asserting that the main aim and objective of the PDP is to guarantee peace and stability in the state, Veeri said that the party’s earnest efforts in making the Jammu and Kashmir a hub of peace and tranquility could be gauged by the fact that on all fronts, the PDP government in the state empowered youth and was successful in withdrawing more than twelve thousand FIRs registered against the youngsters. “The party accorded a dignified life to these youth who were bundled in jails and PDP gave them a reason to put their lives back on track and prosper. The fact is that PDP is the only platform that gave voice to the people by providing the only viable and credible alternative to the people of Jammu & Kashmir,” said Veeri.
He added that despite the medley of the internal troubles within the coalition, the PDP led government always stood at the forefront to ensure that the state’s interests aren’t bartered against the petty power.
Veeri said that the remonstrance by the PDP against any injustice perpetrated against the people of the state is known to all and the guiding principle set by party’s founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed will act as a torch bearer for the PDP’s future course of action as well.
The leaders present in the meeting also resolved to make PDP vibrant force in the state once again and democratize its mission so that Kashmir could be saved from the present apocalyptic situation.
The PDP leaders who were present in the meeting include Mansoor Hussain Soharwardy, Parliament member Nazir Ahmad Laway, Abdul Gaffar Sofi, Rafi Ahmad Mir, Mohammad Khalil Bandh, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Aijaz Ahmad Mir, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Syed Farooq Andrabi, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Abdul Rahim Rather, Abdul Majeed Padder and others.
