JAMMU: National Conference OBC Cell on Wednesday criticized the PDP-BJP alliance for putting into back burner the recommendations made by the previous government for enhancing the reservation quota of the OBC segments of the society without disturbing the quota of other categories in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the functionaries of the Cell at Bhag-e-Bahu here, the Co Chairman Abdul Gani Teli said that the initiative was in consonance with National Conference policy of taking special measures for upliftment of weaker sections of society, which the present dispensation has altogether ignored.
Teli said National Conference has been championing the cause of these segments in order to ensure their empowerment and to seek wider opportunities for young people of these segments. He, however, regretted that the insensitive PDP-BJP combine has betrayed the people, especially those belonging to weaker sections, as a result of which these communities are hugely suffering.
The Co-Chairman exhorted the party cadre to reach out to the people and highlight their problems that have accumulated during the past nearly three years. He said the coalition government has failed on all fronts, which is discernible in terms of developmental inertia and administrative break-down.
The meeting was organized by Manu Ram and those present on the occasion included Sunil Mehra, Gutam Raj, Salvan, Vijay Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Pintoo and others.
