Jammu: National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah criticized Pakistan for the ongoing terrorist attacks in Jammu division, stating that the responsibility to improve relations between India and Pakistan lies with both nations.
Addressing the media, Omar said that it was not only India’s responsibility to improve relations between India and Pakistan, but it is also Pakistan’s duty to do so. “The kind of attacks that are happening in Jammu and Kashmir should not happen,” he said
When questioned about the possibility of the Indian cricket team not participating in the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan, Omar said that the decision rests solely with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). “Both countries have not played a bilateral series for many years. It is the BCCI’s own decision not to go for the tournament.”
Omar reiterated his stance on the shared responsibility for fostering better relations between the two countries. “I have always said that it is not only our country’s responsibility to establish better relations between these two countries. If better relations are to be made, then it is Pakistan’s responsibility too. The kind of attacks that are happening should not happen; the kind of atmosphere that is there should not happen. Pakistan will also have to play its role in this so that the relations between the two countries improve,” he said—(KNO)
