Back home families on pins and needles
Srinagar : Over 6,000 Kashmiris are stuck in India’s West Bengal state while no efforts are being evacuate these stranded people mostly traders from Kolkatta, which is witnessing scorching heat these days.
Government has appointed Talalt Parvez as Nodal Officer but he instead of visiting Kolkatta, is staying in New Delhi, asking his assistant to manage the affairs.
The stranded Kashmiri men have formed a Union to put pressure on the authorities to get them evacuated from the heat zone. “its 42 degrees calculus here and we are almost dying due to scorching heat. What adds to our woes is the behavior of Nodal Officer and his misinformation. Every day, we are being asked to get registered through a link, but the reality is something different. It is only a time-buying attempt. Here Kolkatta government has categorically told us that they don’t have any intention to help stranded Kashmiris so for but the Jammu Kashmir Government is playing with the people, befooling them. It has not evacuated anyone from Kolkatta,” Ajaz Ahmed told news agency KNT.
Talat Parviz is the nodal officer who was given a task to evacuate stranded Kashmiri from West Bengal, Asam, Orisa, Jharkhand and Agarthalla.
Despite repeated attempts, Talat Parviz couldn’t not be contacted.
Over 6,000 Kashmiris are stuck in different parts of West Bengal including Kolkatta, Purelia, Khadakpur, Motia Bazar, Rippon Street, Bongam, Bharampur, Krishna Nagarand Asansol.
All these stranded people from Kashmir are eagerly waiting for evacuation while back home their family members are at pins and needles.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration has said that it is planning to evacuate all Kashmiri traders stranded in West Bengal. (KNT)
