SRINAGAR : To protest against the Pulwama attack, over 200 travel agents in Saurashtra have decided not to book even single ticket for the Kashmir tour for five years.
The agents would thus lose business of nearly Rs 300 crore. Kashmiri agents are unnerved with this decision. They have appealed to the Saurashtra travel agents to reconsider the decision and guaranteed the safety of the tourists visiting Kashmir.
Saurashtra’s agents based their decision on ‘patriotism’ and remained firm on their decision. Besides the agents have removed the word Kashmir from their packages and banners. Local agents are not talking to Kashmiri agents in this regard.
This decision has been supported by Saurashtra’s 170 travel agents and 70 agents of Railways. People in Saurashtra go to several hill stations including Kerala, Kashmir, Kullu Manali, Shimla during summer vacations.
Abhinav Patel, secretary, Saurashtra Travel Agents Association, said the life of each and every soldier in this country is invaluable. The future of the country is bright due to them. Now is the time to stand in solidarity with the soldiers. Not a single tour of Kashmir would be conducted unless terror attacks end, Patel added. (PTK)
