SRINAGAR: Governor Satya Pal Malik said today that only youth have solution to the issues faced by Jammu and Kashmir.

Satya Pal Malik said that “the youth of the State had nothing to do after 6 pm. I realized this. Now, I have asked the administration to construct play grounds in the districts and other places. Very soon, we hope to host Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in Jammu and Srinagar,” he said, pinning lot of hopes on the youth.

He further added “Kashmir is an issue for people aged between 13-23 years, children have nothing to do after 6 pm in Srinagar, no cinemas, no cafes, no place to go out”.

Though Malik didn’t drop any hint, speculations were rife that Jammu and Kashmir Police could get much awaited hardship allowance on Monday when the State Administrative Council (SAC) is scheduled to meet under the chairmanship of the Governor.

All cinemas in Kashmir has been closed since militancy erupted in 1989. The government’s attempt to revive cinemas in 1999 failed to bring people to the halls, as one in Lal Chowk came under attack from militants following the screening of the Sunny Deol-starrer Pyar Koyi Khel Nahi. (PTK)
