Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to present a cabinet resolution seeking restoration of Jammu & Kashmir’s statehood.Sources told that Omar met the PM today and handed over the cabinet resolution to him.The resolution, cleared by the J & K cabinet in its first meeting on October 17, seeks restoration of J&K’s statehood” in its original form.”Sources disclosed that the security situation and development works in Jammu & Kashmir also came up for discussion during the meeting, which lasted for nearly 30 minutes.In a brief statement, the Press Information Bureau(PIB) said that the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah met the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today.“CM of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri @OmarAbdullah met PM @narendramodi,” the Prime Minister’s handle on X posted.This was the first meeting of Omar Abdullah with the PM after being sworn as Chief Minister of J&K.Omar, who arrived in the national capital for the first time on Wednesday since becoming CM, met Home Minister Amit Shah last evening.Omar today also met Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari to discuss key road infrastructure development projects with him.The CM also met Defense Minister Rajnath Singh this evening.In a post on X, Singh said that the NDA-led government is looking forward to working with Omar Abdullah for J&K’s progress.“Met with the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah in New Delhi.The NDA Govt under PM Narendra Modi is looking forward to working with him for J&K’s progress,” he posted on X—(KNO)
