Says ‘those making threats won’t remain in state for very long’
Srinagar : Former chief minister and National Conference (NC) Vice President, Omar Abdullah on Monday alleged that officers of Jammu and Kashmir favouring early Assembly elections were being browbeaten and threatened, saying that those making threats will not remain in the state for very long.
In a series of tweets, Omar lashed out at some officers in Jammu and Kashmir, saying “for their own selfish reasons, they have taken it upon themselves to scuttle democracy in the state.”
“One day we will talk about the cabal of officers in J&K who for their own selfish reasons have taken it upon themselves to scuttle democracy in the state,” Omar tweeted
He said those officers have no stakes in the state and are looking at post retirement postings in cushy appointments.
“Some have no stakes in the state & some are looking at post retirement postings in cushy appointments. Whatever their reasons they have chosen to put their personal interest ahead of the greater good,” Omar wrote on twitter.
Omar said he is shocked to hear how the officers who pitched for early elections are being threatened. “I’m shocked to hear how officers who have supported early assembly elections are being browbeaten & threatened using their performance appraisals against them to get them to toe the line,” Omar tweeted.
He said that no honest officer should fear these threats and those making threats will not remain in the State for very long.
“No honest officer should fear these threats. We must put the greater good ahead of our personal preferences & benefits. Those people making the threats will not remain in the state for very long,” Omar tweeted. (KNS)
