A civilian was killed in clashes with the government forces in Langate area of frontier district of Kupwara after the end of polling for the Baramulla parliamentary constituency on Thursday.
Reports said that youth took to streets in Mandigam village of Langate and clashed with the forces after the polling ended this evening.
They said that the forces fired pellets to quell the protests, resulting in death of a youth, identified as Owais Mir, a resident of Mandigam.
Medical Superintendent district hospital Handwara Dr Rouf said that the youth was brought dead to the facility.
“He had suffered multiple pellet injuries and was declared dead on arrival at the facility,” he said.
