Srinagar: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a non-local worker from Chattisgrah in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district triggered a fresh wave of fear among the non-local residents who had returned to Kashmir post August 5 when Centre scrapped Article 370 and bifurcated erstwhile State into two Union Territories (UTs).

Police said that unidentified gunmen shot at a non-local labourer from Chattisgarh, whow as working at Brick-Kiln at Aukoo village of Pulwama. “The slain was identified as 29-year-old K Sethi. He died on the spot after receiving multiple bullet injuries,” said a police officer, wishing not to be named told wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

The killing of Sethi triggered a fresh wave of fear in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district as many non-local labourers decided to flee.  Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order, Security, Munir Khan said that FIR has been lodged and investigations taken up on fast track basis. “We will identify the killers soon,” he said. Earlier, on Monday evening unidentified gunmen torched the vehicle of a trucker driver from Rajashtan before shooting the driver dead. He was identified as Shareefudin Khan, who was killed at Shirmal village of Shopian district of South Kashmir. (KNO)
