Srinagar : A nocturnal gunfight has started between government forces and militants in Ganipora kralgund area of north Kashmir’s Handwara district.
Officials told news agency KDC that a joint search operation was launched in the area following specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
As soon as forces zeroed towards the suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon them leading to an encounter.
Also, Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet said that “#Encounter has started at #GaniporaKralgund area of #Handwara. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice.”
Meanwhile, Sources told the heavy exchange of fire from both the sides was going on, further details shall follow. (KDC)
