No dearth of funds for development, but citizens need to show positive approach: LG Manoj Sinha

Inaugurates Tulip Garden at Patnitop, Garden has 2.5 lakh Tulip bulbs spread over 40 kanals; More flowers to be added to attract tourists; Pace of road construction increase less than 5 Km per day to 20 Km per day; J&K getting big push on tourism front

Jammu : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday said that there is no dearth of funds for the development of the Union Territory, but the citizen’s needs to work with positivity for the welfare of society.

“There is no dearth of funds for development. Funds have been available even at panchayat level but people (awam) need to work with positive approach for welfare of society to avail benefits of the growth,” the LG said.

He said that from last few years, more than Rs 10000 crores has been spend on the infrastructure development with projects like mall in Srinagar, hospitals, tunnels, bridges coming up.

“The pace of road construction in the Jammu and Kashmir was less than 5 kilometers a day which is now increased to 20 kilometers and we are aiming much higher results,” the LG said.

the LG was speaking after inaugurating Tulip Garden at Sanasar, Patnitop.

On tourism, LG Sinha said Jammu has unique and vibrant tourism potential and create higher on global map.

“Tourism potential of Jammu is unique in many ways. With breathtaking natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, magnificent cuisine and warm hospitality, it can create a niche for itself on global tourism map,” he said.

The Garden spread over 40 Kanals with 2.75 Lakh Tulip Bulbs of 25 different varieties, situated amid lush green woods in Ramban district will provide major impetus to tourism and trade activities, said the Lieutenant Governor.

He added, “Administration is committed to ensure all the necessary infra and resources.”

As a “Tourism Mission” initiative 75 new destinations, 75 Sufi/religious sites, 75 new cultural, heritage sites and 75 new tracks are being developed in J&K UT to open up new economic avenues for fulfilling the aspirations of the people, he said.

Sinha further said that development of water parks at twin cities of Jammu and Srinagar, establishment of cultural centres at Ramban, Udhampur, Kathua, Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch will help in building local capacities, boost employment and favourable climate to entrepreneurship—(KNO)
