Srinagar: Villagers from scores of Pattan hamlets here in North Kashmir are up in arms against Revenue Department for involving hundreds of residential houses and business units under a new survey of road widening from Singpora to Hanjiveera.
The inhabitants of different villages including Reshipora, Kripalpora and others told Kashmir News Trust that the road demarcation rather widening of NH1 from Narbal to Baramulla was first completed in 2019 as per the parameters and standard operating procedures of road alignment.
“In Sep 2019, a fresh survey was undertaken from Singpora to Hanjiveera alone. Due to some unknown reasons, the new survey completely changed the previous survey demarcation and much inconvenience of the common people involved residential houses and business units that will be dismantle. The previous survey involved mostly state land with least infrastructure while the new survey will hit the people badly as it recommends the destruction of residential houses and business units,” they said adding that influence and corruption played a key role in changing the previous land demarcation picture.
The locals while seeking the intervention of authorities demanded an independent inquiry in this matter. “This need to be probed after all why the Revenue Department conducted a new survey and ignore the previous one,” they said adding that if they will hit to roads if their apprehensions are not allayed.
