JAMMU: In view of the fast-changing media scenario in the State, the Department of Information and Public Relations is in the process of formulating a new Media Accreditation Policy to replace the existing Press Accreditation Rules of 1997 which have become redundant due to vast expansion of media in Jammu and Kashmir over a period of time.
Pertinently, the State Press Accreditation Committee (SPAC) in its meeting convened in Jammu on 17 December 2015 had also recommended a holistic review of the Press Accreditation Rules-1997 to attune the same with the existing media scenario in the State.
The Department of Information has accordingly framed the Draft News Media Accreditation Policy-2017 and before submitting the same to the Government for finalization, the DIPR has decided to seek the views/suggestions from the stakeholders to make the new Accreditation Policy as comprehensive as possible.
The stakeholders can send their views/suggestions on the official email address of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations dirinf17jk@gmail.com by 15th February 2017.
The Draft News Media Accreditation Policy-2017 has been uploaded on the official website of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations for the convenience of the stakeholders.
