Bandipora: Municipal Committee Sumbal got a Peoples Conference backed Chairman on Monday.
Out of total 13 wards in Sumbal, People’s Conference supported by disgruntled PDP MLC Yasir Reshi had bagged 7wards, Congress 4 and others have emerged victorious in 2 wards.
The election for Chairman Municipal Committee Sumbal was conducted at R&B Department under the supervision of ACD Bandipora. Jahangir Ahmed the PC candidate supported by Yasir Reshi was elected as the Chairman while another PC candidate Gulshana Akhtar was elected for the post of Deputy Chairperson.
Jahangir Ahmed bagged 7 votes while his rival Shabir Ahmed Lone from Congress party secured six votes.
Meanwhile Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone while congratulating Yasir Reshi tweeted: “Great work yasir. Given all the rivals had got together to thwart our march to change —That makes this victory even sweeter.” (CNS)
