SRINAGAR: A mother of three kids died of burn injuries in northern Kashmir’s Bandipora district with her family alleging her in-laws hand in the death.
The lady was brought to District hospital Bandipora Sunday with grievous burn injuries. “She died immediately after she was brought here,” a hospital official said.
The woman’s family alleged that her in-laws killed her by burning her. “She was married 8 years ago at Ahemshareef village, and since then she faced harassment from her in-laws,” they said.
They added that they have ‘evidence’ to prove that her in-laws were involved.
The girl was working as a nurse in the same hospital where she was brought with burn injuries.
A police officer at Bandipora told Press Trust of Kashmir that all the in-laws have been called for questioning. The lady has three little kids among which a boy is specially abled.
However Scores of employees of health department staged a demonstration seeking justice for their colleague who was allegedly burnt to death by her in-laws here this morning.
Scores of health employees, including paramedics took out a march from Nusu to Gulshan Chowk against what they termed murder of their colleague by her in-laws. The protesters assembled at main chowk and shouted slogans for the slain nurse.
“The protesters were demanding a high-level enquiry into the death of their colleague who was mercilessly burned to death by her In-laws,” Fayaz Ahmad said.
The victim, who is survived by three children, one among them a specially abled, was working as a health employee in District hospital Bandipora. She breathed her last at the district hospital Bandipora where she worked. (PTK)
