SRINAGAR, JUNE 07 (PTK): For the first time in last eight years, State Flag could not be raised in the State capital Srinagar as Administration withdrew the permission for the same.
Condemning state government for withdrawing permission at the eleventh hour, to celebrate 8th state Flag Day, AIP president Er. Rasheed has said that the sanctity and significance of State Flag will be protected at any cost and all conspiracies against the constitutional guarantees given to people of state must be respected by the central Government.
In a statement issued today Er. Rasheed asked Government to come clean and answer why it had to withdraw the permission at the last movement and thus disallowed an event which has been taken place since last seven years.
Er. Rasheed said “By withdrawing the permission administration has shown disrespect towards state flag and whosoever has done it should be booked for the shameful act. By arrogance and by using unconstitutional means successive Governments cannot hide or distort historic facts. The significance of 7th June cannot be down played as on this day in 1952 constituent assembly passed a resolution and gave state its own flag and State Song. It is unfortunate that from late Sheikh Sahab to Mehbooba Mufti, no Chief Minister ever took any concrete step to protect the sanctity of State Flag”. Er. Rasheed added that rather celebrating 7th June at official level, Successive government’s preferred to ignore the same.
Reiterating that seventh June should be declared a State Holiday, Er. Rasheed lashed out at NC and PDP for making false promises to protect the special status of state and said that their silence on disrespect being shown towards state flag by Governor Administration has exposed their true face and they as usual are becoming part of the conspiracy against the special status of state.
Er. Rasheed cautioned Modi Government against its harsh and suppressive measures and said that muzzling voice of people will not help BJP to fulfill its unrealistic agenda. (PTK)
