Srinagar: The family of missing Scholar Friday once again appealed police and public to help them in tracing their loved one. They said abduction can’t be ruled out and police should thoroughly investigate the matter.
Phd Scholar Hilal Ahmed Dar went missing in the middle of June last month when he had gone for trekking in Gangabal area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district along with his friends. IGP Kashmir told Reporters that their sources have informed them that Hilal has joined militancy.
“We went to IGP Kashmir who told us that police is not so certain about the fate of Hilal and he has quoted only sources. He even told us that if we bring Hilal back, he won’t be arrested,” the brother of missing Scholar Irshad Ahmed told news agency KNT.
The family members staged a silent protest in Bemina area of Srinagar city appealing police to help them in locating him. They were carrying placards seeking whereabouts of Hilal Ahmed.
“Hilal was interested in studies only. Books were his real friends and he had no inclination towards militancy. We are sure, whatever happened to him, happened in Naranag. His friends should be questioned thoroughly,” they said.
They said there are apprehensions that Hilal might have been abducted. “We appeal both militants and armed forces that if Hilal is with them, please let him go,” they told KNT.
