Srinagar: Ahead of congregational prayers and proposed protest rally, authorities on Friday put Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Under house arrest.
The media advisor to Mirwaiz, advocate Shahid-ul-Islam has also been placed under house detention.
Confirming the house arrest of Mirwaiz and himself, Shahid told that Mirwaiz was scheduled to lead a protest March as per the joint resistance leadership’s programme after Friday prayers.
“He was placed under house arrest early today,” Shahid said adding “I too was told not to move out of my residence.”
