SRINAGAR: Eight policemen were injured in a grenade blast at Pulwama area of south Kashmir on Friday.
Reports reaching news agency GNS said that suspected militants lobbed a grenade towards police station Pulwama resulting in injuries to eight policemen.
“Soon after the attack, cops opened some fire shots”.
SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam Choudary confirmed the attack and injuries and said that militants attacked a naka party of police outside the police station.
He said that searches have been launched to nab the attackers.
All the injured have been hospitalized and were identified as Mohd Ishaq Shah of Hari Parigam, Jagdish Raj of Kathua, Mushtaq Ahmad Mir of Tral, Mohd Shafi Mir of Rajouri, Gh Nabi of Khaigam Pakherpora, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat of Ganderbal, Bilal Ahmad Lone of Khansahab Budgam and Farooq Ahmad Lone of Tral.
Two of them Mohd Shafi Mir and Ghulam Nabi were refered to army’s 92 base hospital in serious conditions. (GNS)
