SRINAGAR : Suspected militants opened fire on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy on Monday in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Police said that militants fired few shots towards the CRPF convoy at Zewan Chowk in Awantipora adding that they are trying to ascertain if anybody was injured in the incident.
The attack comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Chenani-Nashri tunnel on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in the border state.
A few hours after the inauguration of the all-weather tunnel, a policeman was killed and 14 security personnel injured in a grenade attack by militants in Nowhatta in downtown Srinagar.
