MeT predicts moderate rainfall on Feb 12 & 13

Srinagar: The weather is likely to remain dry till February 20th, though MeT predicted moderate rainfall on 12 and 13 of this month.

    A MeT official told Kashmir News Trust that with night temperatures plummeting below freezing point in Srinagar and elsewhere in Kashmir, the day temperatures have witnessed a rise. He added that there may be moderate rainfall for two consecutive days on Feb 12 and 13. “Plain may witness rainfall while there is possibility of light snowfall in hilly areas,” he said.

  This winter, both the plains and the upper reaches in Kashmir region received abundant snow.

   Meteorological Department official said the night temperatures in parts of Kashmir valley remained below the freezing point while as Drass in Kargil district was the coldest place where minimum temperature was recorded at minus 16 degrees. They said Srinagar city recorded minus 2 degree Celsius temperature.

   The tourist destinations Pahalgam recorded minus 3.3 and Gulmarg has recorded night temperature of minus 5.6 degree Celsius.(KNT)
