Man killed at Farooq Abdullah’s residence identified

SRINAGAR: A man hailing from border district Poonch was shot dead by security guards after he allegedly rammed his car inside the residence of NC President Farooq Abdullah’s residence at Bathindi in Jammu city on Saturday.

“There was an attempt of forceful entry into the house of Ex CM Farooq Abdullah by an individual. He forced his way through the VIP gate in an SUV. He was unarmed,” Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu, SD Singh Jamwal told GNS.

The security guards on duty tried to stop him but the man broke the gate also while trying to open the door of the house which prompted the guards to open fire upon him, IGP said.

In the incident, the man died on the spot, he said.

He according to GNS was identified as Murad Ali Shah son of Syed Anzar Hussain Shah of Kangra, Ghulata, Mendhar in Poonch district.

Witnesses said that the man rammed his car (SUV JK02BW-0568) and broke the barricades while trying to enter inside the former chief minister’s house. In the meantime, the security guards of CRPF E/38 bn opened fire and killed him on the spot.
