SRINAGAR: Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Mehmood Shah has expressed immense grief over the killing of Hurriyat leader Mir Hafizullah, saying the “unjust killing” of Kashmiris will end the “Indian occupation”.

“History repeats itself. Indian government is shedding the blood of innocents with its rhetoric of Hindutva rule. Such sacrifices will never go in vain,” a spokesperson of LeT Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi in a statement issued to GNS quoted Shah as saying.

Shah thanked people for showing up in large numbers at the funeral prayer of Mir Hafizullah. “People are our true asset. We are motivated with their support,” he said and paid tribute to armed youth, Inam-ul-Haq, Abid Nazir, Meraj-ud-Deen and Basharat Ahmed, killed in gunfight with government forces in Shopian.

Meanwhile, LeT has strongly condemned the shifting of several prisoners to “international” jails.

The prisoners, LeT said, are: Chairman Muslim League Jammu Kashmir Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Latif Ahmed Athar, Basharat Ahmed Mir, Manzoor Ahmed Nijar, Showkat Ahmed Ganai, Manzoor Ahmed Ganai, Feroz Ahmed Khan, Shakil Ahmed Thokar, Imtiaz Ahmed Dar, Abdul Majeed Dar, Naseer Ahmed Sheikh, Ameer Aziz Lone, Irfan Ahmed Lone, Zafar-ul-Islam Shah, Imtiaz Ahmed Mir, Ghulam Muhammad Khan, Farooq Ahmed Batt, Bashir Ahmed Qureshi, Bashir Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Shafi Dar, Firdos Ahmed Paray, and Ghulam Hassan Shah.

“India is up to vicious motives given the advent of 2019 elections. Despite having clear verdicts and policies from state courts and Indian Supreme Court, the shifting is evident to the fact that there is a jungle rule not a democratic judicial rule in India,” Mehmood Shah said.

He urged the international human rights organisations to take notice of New Delhi’s “aggressive” policies and motives against Jammu Kashmir and play their proactive role in pushing Indian forces to quit Kashmir, the statement said. (GNS)
