Srinagar: Over a month after Lawaypora shootout here in Sirnagar, police in this connection have arrested a youth from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday.
Official sources told Kashmir News Trust that Parimpora Police Station arrested a youth from Arth Budgam in connection with Lawaypora shoot out that occurred on 5 February last month.
Two militants Zia-ur-Rehman of Arth Budgam and Khateeb of Wagam Bijbehara and a trooper Ramesh Ranjan were killed in this shootout.
The investigation that was conducted to probe the shootout revealed that a Scooty was used by militants for the purpose. The Scooty according to police belonged to one Zahid Farooq Dar, a resident of Arth Budgam. Sources added that Zahid was arrested by police on Wednesday and currently he is being questioned.
Pertinently, one of the militants killed in this shootout also hailed from Arth Budgam which is also the native village of arrested youth.
Sources said that during police investigation it surfaced, that Zahid was driving the scooty and fled from the spot after the shootout. (KNT)
