SRINAGAR: Nearly a dozen villages are suffering allegedly due to lack of doctors at Primary Health Centers (NTPHC) in Chewdara Beerwah area of central Kashmir Budgam.
Residents said that the two posts of doctors are lying vacant since long which forces patients to face the brunt. Adding that, only a pharmacist is available at the health center which is insufficient to cater the huge population.
They told PTK that the health center also lack basic facilities of health care. “Many adjoining areas of Beerwah are facing difficulties due to lack of doctors and inattention of the concerned authorities”, said a local residents.
Adding that, even patients suffering minor injuries couldn’t get first aid at the health center which is an irony. Residents alleged that authorities for ignoring the only health care center allocated to at least ten villages.
They said that despite several representations to the health official, nothing has been done so far to address the serious public grievance of health care.
“The health official even did not visit to review the functioning of the health care center. The complaint regarding shortage of doctors seems to have fallen deaf ears”, said a group of agitated patients and attendants at the health care center.
When contacted Chief Medical Officer told PTK that, he will look into the grievances. “I assure you that the problems like shortage of doctors will be resolved. Apart from that the problems of lack of facilities will be also looked into”, he said. (PTK)
