‘Release us on conditional or temporary basis’
Jammu : Kashmiri prisoners languishing at Kotbhalwal Jail Jammu, Friday appealed Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir to release them in wake of Coronavirus outbreak.
The inmates have also sent copies of the letter, which lies with KNT to Principal Secretary Department of Home and Police Chief of Jammu and Kashmir that convicts and under-trials lodged at Central Jail Kot Bhalwal be released on humanitarian grounds on conditional or temporary basis in view of the world-over fast outbreak of pandemic Coronavirus disease.
The inmates have said that there are apprehensions that this pandemic disease may outbreak in jails as the atmosphere in jails are conducive for it. They have said that inmates are susceptible and believe that his virus may breakout definitely in jails where prisoners have been kept in large numbers and besides.
“It is a well known fact that jails in Jammu and Kashmir lack emergency equipments and medical facilities. The inmates who are lodged in jails are vulnerable and can get infected.”
“Virus is spreading like wildfire so this is the best time that convicts and under trials should be released on conditions or on temporary basis and send back to their homes,” the letter to Chief Justice reads. (KNT)
