SRINAGAR : Scores of residents of Khrew area stages protest against the cement factories, illegal mining in the Puwama district of south Kashmir.
They said that the side effects of cement factories, illegal mining in the area has posed great threat to the resident adding that as they create lot of smoke and dust.
Chanting slogans against the concern authorities in Press enclave in Srinagar, protesters demands the removal of these cement factories. The protesters said that it is not only the Khrew area which is facing the brunt but the adjoining areas like, Bahbarpora, Shaar, Zantrag, Pokhribal, Bathen, Nagender, and Wuyen have been suffering immensely for last many years due to the pollution caused by these cement factories. “Despite many pleas to the concern authorities, they are unmoved, “Sonaullah Mir, a protester from Khrew told PTK.
“Our health, roads, agriculture, horticulture have suffered due to the lot of smoke, dust emanating from the cement factories,’ he adds. They said that they are not against the establishment of cement factories but the government can’t situate them among the highly populated area.
However, later the protesters disperse peacefully amid threatening an indefinite protest if the authorities fail to act on their genuine concern.
