Udhampur: Police in Udhampur have detained a man accused of supporting militant activities, invoking the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) to prevent further ‘threats to security’ in the Jammu region.
The detainee, Abdul Qayoom, also known as Bittu, hailing from Kadwah in Basantgarh, was identified as a critical link in aiding militant organizations.
Officials revealed that Qayoom played a dual role as both a logistic provider and a guide for militant groups operating in the area.
Police confirmed that multiple cases were registered against Qayoom at Basantgarh Police Station. “His continued involvement in facilitating militant activities and aiding militant networks prompted his detention under the PSA to ensure he remains in custody.”
“His actions posed a significant risk to the peace and security. This step was necessary to prevent any further support to militants,” an official said. [KNT]
