Kerala reports first coronavirus death; India death toll rises to 20

Kerala has registered its first coronavirus death as a 69-year-old man died in Kochi Medical College today. News agency ANI reported quoting Ernakulam District Medical Officer Dr NK Kuttappan. So far 5 deaths have been reported from Maharashtra, 3 from Gujarat, 2 each from Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and one each from Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Punjab, Delhi, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus positive cases in India has risen to 873 cases with 20 people dead, according to the Union Health Ministry. Maharashtra has reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases so far at 180, including three foreign nationals, followed by Kerala, where the number of cases has climbed to 173, including eight foreign nationals, according to the ministry data.

In other news, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan has written to PM Narendra Modi regarding hardship for cargo movement to Kerala as Karnataka has blocked prominent border state highway.
