Srinagar: The Akhil Bharatiya Kashmir Hindu Mahasangh (ABKHM) has strongly criticized other Pandit organizations, such as ‘Panun Kashmir’ and ‘Kashmiri Pandit Citizens’, for urging Kashmiri Pandits to boycott the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement ABKHM emphasized that the right to vote is a fundamental right and that Pandits should not abstain from participating in the electoral process. The organization labeled those advocating for a boycott as “foes” rather than well-wishers of the Pandit community.
This development comes after ‘Panun Kashmir’ and ‘Kashmiri Pandit Citizens’ announced their decision to refrain from participating in the elections, citing the “persistent denial of their genocide” as the reason.
ABKHM’s stance highlights a division within the Pandit community on the issue of election participation. While some organizations are advocating for a boycott, others believe that exercising their right to vote is essential for their voices to be heard and interests represented. [KNT]
