SRINAGAR: Shahid Rashid Bhat with double masters degree in designing from Pulwama district of South Kashmir showcased his Kashmiri design wear collections at India Couture Lifestyle Fashion Week.
The India Couture Lifestyle Fashion Week 2018 was organised by VG Fashion Entertainment owned by Gaurav Gupta and Vibhor Gupta in Delhi’s Taj Vivanta Dwarka. Shahid showcased his collection titled “Paiwandh” under his own brand SRB Style among the collections of some of the top couturiers from the world of fashion that includes Cantibal Italy, Dimple Kpoor, Gatha, Sonalis Creation, Jitumoni Teron, Maninder Gulati, meety Bhagga, The Wedding Store by Shivraj Rathore, Mazhar & Prashant, Tehra, Vinay Rana Sidi.
Shahid Rashid is Known for engineering couture into runway masterpieces by seamlessly combining Kashmir’s rich heritage with western punk style. Shahid stole the show by showcasing some 20 designs of Kashmiri Pherans in the event.
Handcrafted jewellery by Sheikh Javed from Delhi added grace to the Paiwandh collection. Super Model Saud Khan was the show stopper for Shajid’s Paiwandh Collection. Along Shahid Rashid and Saud Khan, Mohsin Andrabi co-founder of SRB Style walked for the final design.
Shahid said, “I want my designs to serve as a cultural translator of Kashmiriyat and be used worldwide. As a designer, I get more inspiration from doing things for Kashmiri Culture that fuels what I do than anything else. I think if we have to encourage the next generation to wear our own culture and this is what i am trying to do.”
Shahid’s colleague Mohsin Andrbi and co-founder of SRB Style said “It’s about being associated with something that’s the biggest thing we have culturally at the moment, trying to define ourselves not through words or image, but with a skill. We want our customers to understand the value in an item of clothing that has its own personal story through repair, provenance and Kashmiri touch”.
