SRINAGAR : Peoples’ Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone on Sunday reiterated the party’s stand that Kashmir deserved a structural and reconciliatory approach that would open a bridge of reconciliation with the youth and provide an opportunity to break the vicious circle of violence that has engulfed the Valley.
Welcoming Former MLA Tangmarg Mr. Muhammad Abbas Wani along with his colleagues and workers to Peoples’ Conference, Sajad Gani Lone said that there was a dire need to rehabilitate alienated youth and salve their wounds as opposed to expecting permanence in an operational approach to conflict. Senior Peoples’ Conference Leader Molvi Imran Reza Ansari and Mayor of Srinagar, Junaid Azim Mattu were also present on the occasion and welcomed Wani to Peoples’ Conference.
“We need to offer various structural solutions that would evolve into a sustainable process of conflict resolution in Kashmir. The alienated youth who are willing to abjure violence and consider espousing their aspirations constructively should be provided an opportunity of rehabilitation and reintegration into the society. A reactionary, operations and military approach in isolation will not help. Politics is the art of the possible and it is in this spirit that we have to reach out with hope, sincerity of purpose and political will”, the PC Chairman said.
Welcoming Muhammad Abbas Wani to Peoples’ Conference, Sajad Gani Lone said he was confident that Wani’s joining would strengthen the party in Tangmarg and North Kashmir. “I welcome Abbas Sahab to Peoples’ Conference and have full faith in his diligence and passion to serve the party and his constituents. Abbas Sahab was a victim of PDP’s elitism and sadism as it was PDP that ridiculed the mandate of the people by punishing Abbas Sahab for winning and challenging the traditional, elitist hegemony of the exclusive club of self-entitled, pampered politicians. Abbas Sahab is a completely self-made politician and enjoys the trust and support of his people. His entry into the party is a joyous occasion and I will count on his hard-work and pro-people outlook to strengthen the party in Tangmarg”, Sajad Lone further added. (PTK)
