SRINAGAR : Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chief Yasin Malik was arrested in Srinagar on Friday to prevent him from taking part in a Muharram procession, said a spokesman.
“Yasin Malik has been arrested by police today ahead of 10th Muharram and immediately shifted to central jail Srinagar on a judicial remand,” he said.
He said that Malik was arrested from his Abi Guzar office. He said police raided the office of JKLF at Abi Guzar and arrested Yasin Malik along with JKLF zonal organizer Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri.
Both were immediately shifted to Central Jail Srinagar on a four-day remand, he said. “JKLF strongly condemns this arrest,” said the spokesperson.
