SRINAGAR: The second day of ongoing budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly session began with noisy scenes today with the opposition demanding discussion on adjournment motion.
“You should suspend the routine work and allow one-hour discussion on civilian killings and other issues,” said Congress MLA GM Saroori. Senior NC leader and MLA Khanyar Ali Muhammad Sagar said government should come clear on increase in militancy and civilian killings.
“Our state should discuss killing. Police authorities claim that they have broken back of militancy and at the same time militants carry out fidayeen attack in Kashmir. Police is giving disturbing statements and misleading the government as well,” he said. As the speaker disallowed the discussion, opposition members resorted to sloganeering, asking the government to come clear on civilian killings.
CPI (M) leader M Y Tarigami said House should allow discussion on civilian killing and governance deficit. “These issues have relevance in the House. We should discuss these issues,” he said. However, the parliamentary affairs minister Rehman Veeri accused the opposition of wasting time of House.
Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Sukhnandan Kumar staged a walkout from the Jammu and Kashmir assembly on Wednesday after accusing the government of “biased approach” towards his constituency. Kumar jumped into well of the House and demanded an answer from the government.
Meanwhile, all opposition members jumped into the well of the assembly and asked the speaker to allow discussion on civilian killing and issues of mis-governance.
According to the reports, the opposition parties had moved adjournment motion yesterday and asked the speaker to suspend others proceedings and allow discussion on civilian killing in Kashmir.
Reports said that MLA Langate Er Rasheed jumped in well of the House and accused the government of suppressing their Right to Freedom of speech and expression by disallowing them to use social media. The reports added that the opposition raised slogans against the government. (PTK)
