SRINAGAR: While demanding stern action against Deputy Mayor Sheikh Imran, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) state spokesperson Altaf Thakur on Tuesday urged governor Satya Pal Malik to investigate his links with ISI and militant groups operating in the state of Jammu and Kashmir through National Investigating Agency (NIA).
On Monday, a video of Sheikh Imran had gone viral on social Media in which he was seen in his office, threatening one of the corporators of dire consequences.
He even told the corporate that he has close links with ISI chief, separatists including Syed Ali Shah Gillani, Yasin Malik and Moulvi Umar Farooq besides Riyaz Naikoo and thus can kill Mayor Junaid Matoo and People’s Conference (PC) chief, Sajad Lone with their help at any time and at any place.
Thakur said that Imran has been delivering controversial statements for a long time. “In the past also, he has come up with such type of statements. This statement is serious in nature and is a serious threat to the security and sovereignty of the country,” he said.
Altaf while threatening to hit the streets in case he was not arrested at an earliest said that “we cannot rule out his involvement in the Pulwama attacks.”
“He should be booked for sedition charges. He has been visiting foreign countries including Dubai. The government should investigate, what is the motive is behind his visits. In the first instance, government should seize his passport and arrest him in order to ensure fair investigation ,”he said. (PTK)
